Michael J. Rybak

Michael J. Rybak, Pharm.D., MPH, Ph.D., FCCP, FIDSA, is a Professor of Pharmacy at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (EACPHS). Dr. Rybak is also an Adjunct Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the School of Medicine at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. He is the Director of the Anti-Infective Research Laboratory at the EACPHS and is affiliated with the Detroit Medical Center. Dr. Rybak’s primary focus of research is antimicrobial pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) and the assessment of infectious diseases health outcomes including their relationship to bacterial resistance. His most recent work is focused on the laboratory and clinical assessment of combination therapy for methicillin and vancomycin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and enterococci. Dr. Rybak has published more than 300 manuscripts in medical and scientific journals and authored several book chapters on antimicrobial PKPD, resistance, assessment of patient outcomes and antimicrobial stewardship. He is the recipient of the ASHP and ACCP awards for sustained literature contributions and most recently received the ACCP Frontier’s Lecture Award for career achievement.
